EU Supported Computer Courses

Under the EU Grant Program, a 12 module IT course to improve computer knowledge and qualification of the workforce was offered to the unemployed and the disabled. The courses started in September 2009 and were finished in March 2010. The cost of the project was 33,000 €. TechnoPark applied for another course under EU Grant Program after that, for 162,000 €, which was about Information Security.

Another computer course, financed by the ‘EuropeAid/127585/C/ACT/CY Schools’ Initiative for Innovations and Change II’ plan of general director for enlargement, European Union Commission, conducted by Gazi Magusa Turkish College of Education (GMTMK), supported on the technical issues by the EMU Institute of Remote Education and on academic issues by the EMU English Preparatory School, was offered to GMTMK teachers who were a part of Computer Assisted Foreign Language Education program, within the TechnoPark Innovation Laboratory, between the dates 15/12/2009 - 15/01/2010. The course was given by, the director of Institute of Remote Education Associate Professor Işık Aybay and Hüseyin Hacı, a Research Member of the Institute. The teachers of GMTMK were divided into two groups according to their computer knowledge, the levels being Beginner and Intermediate. Both groups had an education of 20 hours, and achieved improvement on basic computer skills and of modern software knowledge. During the course, 20 personal computers, software installed on these computers, a data projector and a Smartboard were used. 8 attenders of the Beginner level, and 19 attenders of the Intermediate level successfully completed the course and were rewarded their certificates.
