Famagusta Technopark and Eastern Mediterranean University has overtaken a mission of converting the TRNC into a science and information technology island which is productive and competitive in world market. In order to establish an information and technology based industry on the island, Technopark is pursuing its activities to bring the academicians and entrepreneurs together to produce technological know-how, innovative products, new production methods and provide the necessary infrastructure with high-tech laboratories, fast internet and communication environment for the SME’s and entrepreneurs to be competitive in the world market.

Since its establishment in 2006, 23 High-tech companies were founded, meetings for cooperation between the SME’s and academicians were held, entrepreneurship courses and project competitions were , held and several courses were given to introduce the entrepreneurs and university students with the new technologies and their applications.

Technopark companies have developed many hardware and software products together with the academics and researchers of Eastern Mediterranean University in the fields of information technologies, embedded electronic circuit design and applications, intelligent traffic control systems, telecommunications, automation, alternative energy resources and geographical information systems. Some of these products were marketed in Turkey and TRNC.

As a consequence of the motivation created by the technological activities and the products developed at Technopark, an important meeting was organized between the TRNC and Turkish authorities to convert the TRNC into an Information Island where directors of Technopark and EMU have made substantial contribution.
