3D LASER SCANNER FOR ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS

A 3 Axis CNC Equipment is available at the Mechatronix Laboratory of Technopark which can machine metal, wood and hard plastic material of size 760mm x 430mm x 460mm automatically once the 3D sotware model of the work piece is uploded to the computer of the equipment. This equipment is available to the use of all academicians and researchers of the SME’s in the TRNC.

Practical courses are also delivered to those who are interested in using the equipment to enable them to make a hands on start to its use. The 3 axes CNC machine can be used in making dies for plastic injection processes, machine and robotic parts for Mechatronix applications. A handheld Laser scanner is available in our Mechatronix Laboratory to capture 3D data from any object and to construct the 3D model of objects for measuring, modifying and reconstructing their shapes. It can be used in constructing the dies and moulds for mass production of machine parts or plastic enclosures. 3D scanner is also used in biomedical applications to produce the model of a human leg or arm which may be used for designing prosthesis for patients whose legs or arms are amputed.
